The Coast
El Gouna & the North Coast: A Dining Guide
Egypt's coast eats well. El Gouna runs year-round around its marinas and lagoons; the North Coast (Sahel) wakes up for the summer with beach clubs and seasonal outposts of Cairo's best. Here's where to point the evening.
El Gouna: dinner by the water
The lagoon-side La Maison Bleue is the town's most romantic table — a private-villa feel on the Red Sea. For handmade pasta by the marina, Zia Amelia is Gouna's most-booked Italian. Pier 88 at Abu Tig Marina is the loud, glamorous one, where dinner slides into dancing as the yachts sway, and Bleu Bleu does refined French seafood with a view.
El Gouna: lazy days & late nights
Moods Beach stretches lunch into the afternoon by the sea, Kayak Bar is the easy marina hang, and Saigon brings Vietnamese flavour to the waterfront. For a buzzier evening, Nineteen20 leans Mediterranean with a scene.
The North Coast (Sahel), in season
Summer on the Mediterranean is its own world. Look for the coastal residences of Cairo favourites — Sachi By The Sea at Almaza Bay and Seashell of Hacienda, the Sahel institution where lunch somehow runs to midnight — plus marina and beach-club tables that open only for the season.
